Bring your students out of the classroom for an impactful, hands-on environmental excursion at Manly Cove. Our excursions combine direct environmental action with citizen science, empowering students to tackle plastic pollution while developing real-world STEM and data analysis skills.
What Students Experience
Hands-On Beach Cleanup: Students actively remove marine debris and plastic pollution along the shoreline. We provide all necessary cleanup equipment, including collection bags and protective gloves.
Citizen Science & Waste Auditing: At the end of the cleanup, students sort, categorise, and record litter data—focusing on key categories such as single-use food packaging, beverage containers, and personal care items.
Data-Driven Problem Solving: Students analyse which waste items are most prevalent, helping them understand how real-world data drives targeted community solutions to stop pollution at the source.
Marine & Circular Economy Education: Facilitators guide discussions connecting local litter findings to broader global waste systems, microplastics, and material circularity.

Location: Manly Cove (alternate site and incursion options also available).
Equipment Provided: Collection buckets/bags, safety gloves, sorting mats, and data recording sheets.
